Professionals of color shared their past educational experiences of discrimination, marginalization, and oppression at the Teachers for Social Justice Seminar during the 2013 National Deaf People of Color Conference in Washington, DC. They proposed that the practices of injustice in education for students with multiple intersectional identities be addressed. With tremendous support from multiple communities, Teachers for Social Justice: Deaf Learners (TSJDL) hosted its first retreat with eight Pre-K to 12th grade teachers from across the nation during the summer of 2014.
